Commission Charges and Frequently Asked Questions

Below are various frequently asked questions Ann is asked, you will find information on pricing, framing, guarantees and various other topics.

Q. How much do commissioned portraits cost?
A. A single portrait (framed, mounted and ready to hang) from 560 to 640 guineas (£588.00 to £672.00); the latter including 2 pencil remarques. Multiples are quoted on request. A large selection of mouldings, frames and mounts is available.

Q. How do I pay for commissions?
A. A deposit of £200 is taken on signing the order, the balance is due on completion.

Q. Will the portrait resemble the subject both in looks and character?
A. Providing that Ann has been able to see the subject herself, and has been able to take satisfactory photographic records, the result is guaranteed. During her professional career, only two portraits have been returned. These were accepted after minor adaptations.

Q. My mare is now 27 years old. I would like to commission a portrait of her but would like her to look younger.
A. Ann is able to do this by altering the temple sockets, taking a 'tuck' in the bottom eyelid, removing a few grey hairs, and sparkling the eyes. The end result is a much younger horse, as many delighted clients will testify.

Q. My dog is now old. He is both blind, deaf and grey. I do not wish him to be portrayed as this.
A. Ann has been presented with this question many times. She still likes to see the subject, but also requires snapshots of him in his younger days, to ascertain where hair colouring was. She will remove recent minor blemishes, but will not alter any physiological defects. The end results have always been very satisfied clients.

Q. I would like to have my older dog portrayed, but would like to incorporate his younger companion. Is this possible?
A. Many clients have asked this question. In most cases pencil remarques have been added to the head and shoulders study portraying their companions in typical poses and situations.
