Every animal is an individual and has a personality and appearance of its own. Animal portrait artist Ann Seward has the unique ability of recognising these characters and of projecting them into her remarkably detailed, beautiful works of art. Each portrait is an authentic, accurate and totally lifelike evocation of the subject. For the last 29 years Ann has been accepting private commissions for dog, horse and pet portraits from her home studio in the town of Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, England.  Since 1979 Ann has completed literally thousands of commissioned portraits, immortalising the subjects for eternity.  One of the most heart rending things about owning ponies and horses is when the the time comes to part company with them. Every one of my daughter's mounts has become an important part of our family set-up but as she has grown up we have acquired four very different “characters” each of which we have grown to know and love. The amazing thing is that everyone who has known our horses and ponies, former owners, subsequent owners, even other riders, has commented to a man how Ann has captured the very essence of the creature that they know so well. We are lucky that through Ann's skill and artistry we have on our walls a visual reminder of the wonderful relations Charlie has enjoyed with these beautiful creatures that have been such an important part of her life as she has grown up. Ann has been painting portraits for both me and my friends over the past thirty years. She captures perfectly the spirit and character of her subjects. The life-like appearance is quite simply outstanding, as shown in the latest commission of my three terriers completed Christmas 2007. 
I wanted to say a big thank you for the painting that you have just completed for Dane and I of our Weimaraner 'Finn'. It is absolutely fantastic and we are both delighted with how it has turned out. This is the first time that we have commissioned a portrait of any of our animals but it certainly will not be the last. We are amazed at how lifelike your painting is; it is as if you could reach your hand into the picture and really feel and stroke the warm velvet of his ears.
