Commission Work

Ann has been accepting commissions to portray animals and pets in fine art watercolours for over 30 years. Her portraits are true to life and capture her subjects' individuality, character and idiosyncrasies, making them appear alive to their owners. They are a constant reminder of the friendship and loyalties forged between an animal and its owner.

This attention to detail is achieved by meeting her subjects personally; gifted with a photographic memory, Ann is able to recall each subject with the aid of a set of colour photographs.

Ann only works in watercolours and has developed a technique of building up thousands of colour washes to give an amazing intensity of colour to the study, whilst creating a tactile depth to the coat; this together with her ability to capture the very essence of the eye and expression, brings the animal to life.

Her innate ability of perception and of portraying each individual animal is unequivocal, and has ensured her reputation as one of the foremost animal portraitists in the United Kingdom.

Commission Work - Portrait with pencil remarques Portrait with pencil remarques
To further personalize each portrait Ann can add pencil remarques to the head and shoulders study. These can either depict the animal in various positions and situations, it's aptitude or to illustrate the relationship with it's owner. Ann was commissioned to paint this Vizsla bitch to be given as a Christmas present to her owner.
